Poor Quality Work that backed up as promised.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Cancun Dental Specialists - Poor Quality Work that backed up as promised.

I began seeing Cancun Dental Specialist in 2017. I have had to make four trips for one implant.I have had many issues from implant not taking to several crowns not sealed properly.

They do not seem to have any records of my phone calls. The actual medical records are not correct. Last Summer several crowns were redone and I was just told this week by two United States dentists that I have multiple issues with some of the other crowns that were done at the clinic. I called soon after I left last July and told them several crowns were still hurting when I ate something sweet or I flossed.

When I called this past week they offered to reimburse me less than $400. Out of all the crowns that need to be replaced they said that one had just gotten out of the warranty period. I sent my recent x-rays to them and wanted a real dentist to look at the x-rays. The man who answered the phone said that he was not a dentist, but he was the one who would evaluate my x-rays and wanted to disagree on what I had had done.

I asked him to review the actual X-rays and not what I was billed for because certain things incorrect on my bill and I told them that before I left last summer. I got a very rude attitude with no understanding to the cost that it took to go to Mexico four different times four different times. How can multiple crowns have a cavity under them in less than a year? I also asked to speak to the dentist that owns the company and I was told I was not allowed to.

All I asked was for a licensed dentist to look at all the x-rays from day one of my treatments and read the notes of the crowns that were already replaced as well as the new ones that have to be redone and possibly a root canal to the teeth because of the underlying cavity under a leaky crowns. On my last visit I was in Mexico 7 days and I traveled back and forth from Cozumel on several of the days. The person on the phone tried to tell me I was only there for 2 days. I sat in that Dental clinic multiple days last summer.

I was basically told I was a liar on every aspect even though they have the x-rays. I would have appreciated being treated with respect and concern when I made my phone call this past week. I have spent thousands not counting the cost of transportation to fly there. I was guaranteed the work would be backed up.

The only positive thing about the experience was that the transportation was well coordinated to and from the office. I have attached one of the receipts I have that says I received four veneers. I do not have a veneer in my mouth.

I could never get them to correct that on this one trip it was crowns not veneers therefore my insurance would not reimburse me at that time. I will have to search more for the other visits and the receipts

That IS disgusting. Im sorry that happened to you.

Make it public. You have to publicly expose predators like that . Who was it? I had a bad *** experience there as well.

But it was more sadistic and abusive than touching. I would definitely expose that person in hopes of shaming them into not doing that to other patients.

Refund for services not provided

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Cancun Dental Specialists - Refund for services not provided

From arrival one can see that they over schedule patients as the average wait time is 4-6 hours for service. I came in to get a filling redone as they did not do an adequate job the first time and this is now the third time they are having to fix this same tooth.

I was also scheduled to get my 4 wisdom teeth removed and a cleaning. When I arrived they took me in to get the cleaning and anesthesia at 12pm then sent me back out to the lobby to wait for a doctor. While I was under anesthesia I waited in the lobby for 4 hours that the anesthesia wore off. I asked the front desk how much longer the wait would be as the anesthesia effects had worn off - they said soon and that they would have to administer anesthesia on me again due to this long wait.

Another hour went by with no doctor coming so I decided to just cancel the wisdom teeth removal all together as by this point I had been in the clinic since 12pm and it was now nearing 5:30pm with no updates or doctors coming to check on me.

Getting a refund and cancelling the extractions was a nightmare interaction. The young girl in the finance office said that she would be able to cancel the $1200 procedure however my account would be in default showing that I owe them $1200 and have a collections balance. Why would I owe money and have a debt to a business for teeth they never removed? This made no sense and when she finalized the cancellation the receipt provided (as shown below) shows that she cancelled the procedure but now I had an outstanding balance of $1200!!

I went in to speak with her and further asked why I was having a debt put to my name she said it wasnt possible to erase that debt but this was not the case, when I raised the same questions and concerns to her superior he was shocked and told her that I shouldnt have a debt or outstanding balance. They then had to call their superiors and over the phone someone else said they cleared the outstanding balance. To this day I have not received a refund and had my credit card company open a dispute.

They were shocked at the practices and things said by this young lady and have protected me from this business taking my money.

Overall this place needs better trained people working in their finance office, and to respect and care for their patients more. Running this place like an ant farm and having me wait for 4 hours in a lobby while under anesthesia is not adequate patient care and I urge people to look to other dental specialists in the area that will actually provide correct dental care for their patients not just see them as a dollar sign

Dental Malpractice

Cancun Dental Specialists - Dental Malpractice
Cancun Dental Specialists - Dental Malpractice - Image 2

About a year ago I underwent a dental procedure at the CDS that involved placing some bone graft material. What happened during a procedure and afterward had become a life-changing nightmare for me.

My problem was related to the fact that incorrect bone graft material (synthetic) was used during my surgery which under no circumstance should have been used in any dental procedure for me, as my body is not bio-compatible with synthetic bone grafts, and placing the latter into my body would guarantee any dental work to fail. In preparation for my visit to the CDS clinic, I had taken every conceivable precaution to prevent a possibility of such an outcome and many times brought this information to the attention of the CDS doctors. However, all my efforts were ignored and disregarded, and, eventually, a synthetic bone graft was used in my surgery without me being aware of this fact. When after my surgery at the CDS the inevitable happened - my body started rejecting the synthetic bone graft, seeking help, I tried to reach out to the DCS healthcare professionals asking for help but never got a response from any of them.

Long story short, to correct the results of the medical negligence of the CDS doctors I had to undergo multiple follow-up surgeries to clean up the rejected synthetic bone graft and the debris of the inflamed/dead bone that was impacted by this process. As a consequence, right now I am suffering from chronic pain and have to deal with a suffered injury - a permanent disfiguring of the bone ridge and gum line (see the picture attached) that are impossible to restore now and what could and should have been absolutely avoided. When I submitted my complaint to the clinic, nobody responded. It was ignored the same way as were my previous requests for help when I was suffering from inflammation.

Until I posted a negative Google review, they did not even bother to contact me in any way.

Please think twice before you decide to get your dental work done at this place. Stay away from this clinic if you want to save your time, money, and most importantly your health.

After 2 trips and major dental work, all the work has to be redone by a qualified dental facility (not Cancun Dental). I am out thousands of dollars, and will have to spend thousands more to correct their errors! Equally as important, I contracted Hepatitis C during my last trip to Cancun Dental Specialist!!! Original review May 27, 2020
Nine Crowns placed in December 2019 along with two extractions. Service with a smile, and they did everything they said they would do. I left pleased with the procedures and results. Fast Forward to March 2020, 2 of the 9 crowns had to be removed due to infection and 1 of the 9 broke off leaving just the root of the tooth which had to be removed locally. After removal, my local dentist explained what had happened and suggested I contact the dental clinic for a refund.

I am Jennifer Eady from Palm Beach, Florida. I had a full upper and lower Restoration as I wanted a perfect white Hollywood smile. These two wonderful Dentists, Dr. Irma and Dr. Andrea gave me that and I will be back in a couple of weeks with my son Dominique to give him the same result through some minor dental work. I am ABSOLUTELY amazed what they accomplished and I could NOT be any happier with their service, attention to detail, the price, their staff and their professionalism. Before I visited Cancun Dental Specialists, I was terrified of Dentists, but with their patience and absolutely no pain approach, I am now a fan of visiting a Dentist and that will only be from now on Cancun Dental Specialists, coupled with a mini vacation. They absolutely deserved a million stars and not just 5. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! Thank you, Cancun Dental Specialists. The people of Mexico are the friendliest I have EVER encountered.

Wonderful Experience

This was most likely the best dental experience that I have ever had. I had already had a horrible experience at Rio Grande Dental in Juarez so I was initially reluctant to try Mexico for dental work the second time. I am so glad that I did. It was one of the best things I have ever done for myself. My care contact, Josue set everything up for me, including sending a car to pick me up at the airport. As I have never stayed in Cancun, I made a big mistake in making my initial hotel reservations, and he helped me to find a place to stay as well. I am indeed thankful for him going beyond the expected for my care. Both Dr. Irma and Dr. Lugo examined me, but it was Dr. William that actually made my upper arch zirconium bridge. (all on 4's, bridge only, as I already had the implants.) Dr. William is awesome! No manufactured teeth are the same as God gives us, but Dr. William made me a top arch that is pretty close. I went with the bright white, so my teeth are pretty, and the teeth feel almost like they grew there. Oh! I can also eat, no problem! I can not say enough good things about Dr. William and his assistant. Israel, front desk at Ocean Dental, was fantastic. He was good company while waiting between appointments, and he knows a lot about the culture. He even printed our boarding passes for us, so that we didn't have to do it at the airport. And he did it with a smile. When we were ready to go back to our hotel, all we had to do was tell Israel. He was right on it, calling us a car to take us back. These people work so well together. It was really a great experience, and you don't have to give up a thing to get a good fair price, not available in the states. Take it from a little Ohio farmgirl, this is the place to get all your dental work done.

Great service - not pissed

I have had dental work at two of the US best dental schools & private dentists in the USA and this practice compares favorably. Their evaluation process is just as thorough. They have many specialists in all the required areas and they consult freely and extensively. I had 14 pcs of crowns and bridges that were from 15 - 40 years old and were past the time of replacement. In two the underlying teeth had broken hence the extractions. In three, new caries under the 30 - 40 y.o. crowns meant root canals. The surgeon did a superb job on the two extractions with complex roots. The roots of the extracted teeth compromised the bone slightly and a bone graft was required. I had three root canals - all done properly. I went home with a four piece bridge & a three piece bridge permanently placed and I feel they are comparable to quality of what lasted me 20-40 yrs. I have two extensive temps where the extractions/grafts were done and will have to come back for the finals. Kind, caring, competent and professional at less than 1/3 US cost. Pic shows 6 pcs anterior temporaries 3 days after placement - gums still slightly sore but healing well. Could have charged me more by recommending implants but went for just what was needed.

Visit cancun dental specialists and everything was perfect. The deal with the specialists and the dr. Irma Gavaldon was awesome. From the arrival at the airport in Cancun the reception by the driver was very kind, I took me to stay at my hotel because the next day I had my appointment with the specialists, I was really nervous. The next day the same chauffeur came to pick me up at the hotel to take me to the clinic, when the receptionist arrived I started to take my data and very kindly I advise. Then they passed me to a room where they evaluate my dentures with very advanced devices and then I was with dr. Irma gavaldon who helped me understand the problem of my teeth and how it was going to solve. He gave me a lot of confidence so I put myself in his hands. My teeth are perfect and thanks to them I smiled again. I'm very happy!!!

The word I used was "b i t e" and it keeps getting the "***" treatment. Hope this corrects any confusion.

Why did Pissed Consumer bleep out this word? In last sentence of the second paragraph of my review, I used the word, "***" referring to my teeth being corrected.

What posted was this:

"Since my work has been completed and my *** has been corrected I haven't bitten cheeks or tongue a single time; not once. That alone is such a relief."

Why did they insert "***" for the word "***" that I used. Very odd.

It should read like this:

"Since my work has been completed and my *** has been corrected I haven't bitten cheeks or tongue a single time; not once. That alone is such a relief."

I hope it doesn't get changed to "***" again.

Original review Jul 01, 2016
I had my first visit January 2016 and after the implants healed I had the rest of the work completed in May 2016. This is my second review. I wanted to follow up with a more detailed report and express my gratitude to Dr. Irma Gavaldon, Ocean Dental and the entire staff of Cancun Dental Specialists. It's been years since I've been able to chew food without being in pain either from a bad tooth or biting my cheeks or tongue. The biting of the cheeks or tongue is something that's been an everyday, multiple times per day occurrence ever since I can remember. Since my work has been completed and my *** has been corrected I haven't bitten cheeks or tongue a single time; not once. That alone is such a relief. In total, I had 2 extractions, 4 implants, 2 root canals, 2 bone grafts and 18 crowns placed. The chewing teeth are zirconium and the front teeth are Emax porcelain. The team at Cancun Dental Specialists did an outstanding job and I couldn't be more pleased with how everything turned out. I can eat with confidence, they look like real teeth and have never felt or looked better. Period. I was there 10 days each visit and now I'm done. It's worth noting that they provide transportation from and back to the airport and for all the dental appointments FREE of charge. Everyone there has an area of specialty and they all work together as a team. The atmosphere is so friendly, welcoming and professional; from the office to the drivers to the front desk to the gifted dental staff. If I had this done in the US it would have cost $40,000 where I live. $40,000 was simply out of reach for me. At Cancun Dental Specialists I paid just over $12,000 for a savings of 70%. You will love Cancun. It is PARADISE!! Thank you Dr. Irma Gavaldon and your wonderful team at Cancun Dental Specialists. You have made my life better. Aaron New Hampshire, USA

Infected dental implants

my wife had 3 implants set, and the nightmare started, when one of the implants perforated the nerve, now she has parestesia, this is what the doctor here says, we are in shock due to that she cannot even have a sip of coffee, she feels numb all the area, we tried to call many times this practice, and wanted to speak to who ever is responsable, but never had an answer form this dr Irma gavaldon, that even we read that she is a us certified dentist, she is not placing implants, this is a lie, the doctor that saw my wife even told us, that he was leaving because everything there is wrong, even he told us that we were lucky to have dental implants now, because they use to place implants which are clones, or Chinese, we saw the advertisement of this dr Irma gavaldon and she is the head doctor, but the doctor that placed those implants and here are 1005 responsable for this, I regret the moment I decided to travel there and do the procedure.

Just do a google search for LAW SUIT AGAINST DR IRMA GAVALDON.It will answer all your questions.

Ocean Dental Cancun,

These are all the same companies There is no need to write a bad review here because people from this company just say that it's fake in the comments. I am not going to waste my time by writing a long review here since all the information you need is already on the internet.
