Verified Reviewer |Poor Quality Work that backed up as promised.
I began seeing Cancun Dental Specialist in 2017. I have had to make four trips for one implant.I have had many issues from implant not taking to several crowns not sealed properly.
They do not seem to have any records of my phone calls. The actual medical records are not correct. Last Summer several crowns were redone and I was just told this week by two United States dentists that I have multiple issues with some of the other crowns that were done at the clinic. I called soon after I left last July and told them several crowns were still hurting when I ate something sweet or I flossed.
When I called this past week they offered to reimburse me less than $400. Out of all the crowns that need to be replaced they said that one had just gotten out of the warranty period. I sent my recent x-rays to them and wanted a real dentist to look at the x-rays. The man who answered the phone said that he was not a dentist, but he was the one who would evaluate my x-rays and wanted to disagree on what I had had done.
I asked him to review the actual X-rays and not what I was billed for because certain things incorrect on my bill and I told them that before I left last summer. I got a very rude attitude with no understanding to the cost that it took to go to Mexico four different times four different times. How can multiple crowns have a cavity under them in less than a year? I also asked to speak to the dentist that owns the company and I was told I was not allowed to.
All I asked was for a licensed dentist to look at all the x-rays from day one of my treatments and read the notes of the crowns that were already replaced as well as the new ones that have to be redone and possibly a root canal to the teeth because of the underlying cavity under a leaky crowns. On my last visit I was in Mexico 7 days and I traveled back and forth from Cozumel on several of the days. The person on the phone tried to tell me I was only there for 2 days. I sat in that Dental clinic multiple days last summer.
I was basically told I was a liar on every aspect even though they have the x-rays. I would have appreciated being treated with respect and concern when I made my phone call this past week. I have spent thousands not counting the cost of transportation to fly there. I was guaranteed the work would be backed up.
The only positive thing about the experience was that the transportation was well coordinated to and from the office. I have attached one of the receipts I have that says I received four veneers. I do not have a veneer in my mouth.
I could never get them to correct that on this one trip it was crowns not veneers therefore my insurance would not reimburse me at that time. I will have to search more for the other visits and the receipts
- Well coordinated transportation
- Poor customer service when you have a complaint
- Poor quality work that is not backed up
Preferred solution: Full refund

Verified ReviewerRefund for services not provided
From arrival one can see that they over schedule patients as the average wait time is 4-6 hours for service. I came in to get a filling redone as they did not do an adequate job the first time and this is now the third time they are having to fix this same tooth.
I was also scheduled to get my 4 wisdom teeth removed and a cleaning. When I arrived they took me in to get the cleaning and anesthesia at 12pm then sent me back out to the lobby to wait for a doctor. While I was under anesthesia I waited in the lobby for 4 hours that the anesthesia wore off. I asked the front desk how much longer the wait would be as the anesthesia effects had worn off - they said soon and that they would have to administer anesthesia on me again due to this long wait.
Another hour went by with no doctor coming so I decided to just cancel the wisdom teeth removal all together as by this point I had been in the clinic since 12pm and it was now nearing 5:30pm with no updates or doctors coming to check on me.
Getting a refund and cancelling the extractions was a nightmare interaction. The young girl in the finance office said that she would be able to cancel the $1200 procedure however my account would be in default showing that I owe them $1200 and have a collections balance. Why would I owe money and have a debt to a business for teeth they never removed? This made no sense and when she finalized the cancellation the receipt provided (as shown below) shows that she cancelled the procedure but now I had an outstanding balance of $1200!!
I went in to speak with her and further asked why I was having a debt put to my name she said it wasnt possible to erase that debt but this was not the case, when I raised the same questions and concerns to her superior he was shocked and told her that I shouldnt have a debt or outstanding balance. They then had to call their superiors and over the phone someone else said they cleared the outstanding balance. To this day I have not received a refund and had my credit card company open a dispute.
They were shocked at the practices and things said by this young lady and have protected me from this business taking my money.
Overall this place needs better trained people working in their finance office, and to respect and care for their patients more. Running this place like an ant farm and having me wait for 4 hours in a lobby while under anesthesia is not adequate patient care and I urge people to look to other dental specialists in the area that will actually provide correct dental care for their patients not just see them as a dollar sign
Preferred solution: Full refund

Verified Reviewer |Dental Malpractice
About a year ago I underwent a dental procedure at the CDS that involved placing some bone graft material. What happened during a procedure and afterward had become a life-changing nightmare for me.
My problem was related to the fact that incorrect bone graft material (synthetic) was used during my surgery which under no circumstance should have been used in any dental procedure for me, as my body is not bio-compatible with synthetic bone grafts, and placing the latter into my body would guarantee any dental work to fail. In preparation for my visit to the CDS clinic, I had taken every conceivable precaution to prevent a possibility of such an outcome and many times brought this information to the attention of the CDS doctors. However, all my efforts were ignored and disregarded, and, eventually, a synthetic bone graft was used in my surgery without me being aware of this fact. When after my surgery at the CDS the inevitable happened - my body started rejecting the synthetic bone graft, seeking help, I tried to reach out to the DCS healthcare professionals asking for help but never got a response from any of them.
Long story short, to correct the results of the medical negligence of the CDS doctors I had to undergo multiple follow-up surgeries to clean up the rejected synthetic bone graft and the debris of the inflamed/dead bone that was impacted by this process. As a consequence, right now I am suffering from chronic pain and have to deal with a suffered injury - a permanent disfiguring of the bone ridge and gum line (see the picture attached) that are impossible to restore now and what could and should have been absolutely avoided. When I submitted my complaint to the clinic, nobody responded. It was ignored the same way as were my previous requests for help when I was suffering from inflammation.
Until I posted a negative Google review, they did not even bother to contact me in any way.
Please think twice before you decide to get your dental work done at this place. Stay away from this clinic if you want to save your time, money, and most importantly your health.

This is very strange. The word I used got bleeped ("***") out AGAIN!
I don't understand why. I've checked this on every device I have and every browser. I don't get this. Let me spell it out with spaces.
The word I used was "b i t e" and it keeps getting the "***" treatment. Hope this corrects any confusion.

Why did Pissed Consumer bleep out this word? In last sentence of the second paragraph of my review, I used the word, "***" referring to my teeth being corrected.
What posted was this:
"Since my work has been completed and my *** has been corrected I haven't bitten cheeks or tongue a single time; not once. That alone is such a relief."
Why did they insert "***" for the word "***" that I used. Very odd.
It should read like this:
"Since my work has been completed and my *** has been corrected I haven't bitten cheeks or tongue a single time; not once. That alone is such a relief."
I hope it doesn't get changed to "***" again.
